As a ceramic artist focused on making functional pottery I am constantly exploring the relationships between function, form, and surface to keep my pieces and the time in my studio challenging. I hope each of my pots will reveal something new about themselves with every use and add pause to our often routine lives. I draw inspiration from a variety of sources: my education in textile design, my love of traditional Japanese folk pottery and textiles, and Abstract Expressionist painting. I make each piece with the intention that it be used regularly and strongly feel that a broken pot has fulfilled its role better than one which has never been used.
